Full accommodation information

Situated on a hilltop ridge 300 metres (1000 feet) above the Pokhara Valley in West Nepal, it has spectacular views of Machhapuchhre and three of the world’s 8,000 metres (over 26,000 foot) peaks: Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Manaslu.

The dramatic but tranquil setting captivates photographers, painters, writers and honeymooners. The Lodge sets new standards of hospitality with a growing reputation for its fresh local produce and an imaginative menu. It is the winner of several important international eco-tourism and food awards.

Eighteen rooms in hand-cut stone bungalows are arranged in clusters resembling a local village. The spacious rooms, with breathtaking views and set in private gardens, have verandas or balconies, attached bathrooms and are furnished with twin or king-sized beds. The walls are hung with watercolours of the area by British artist, Luke Piper, and historic photographs by Col. Jimmy Roberts.

The main Lodge is the focal point with its central handcrafted copper fireplace, seating areas and bar, decorated with authentic local artefacts. There is an airy dining room and plenty of outdoor terraces for drinks and meals al fresco. A special feature is a library containing a unique collection of Himalayan mountaineering and other literature belonging to Col. Jimmy Roberts who in 1965, pioneering the trekking industry in Nepal.

The gardens are planted with indigenous trees, bamboo and shrubs. There are plenty of strategic viewpoints to enjoy a drink or simply meditate on the majestic white peaks. A swimming pool, ingeniously sited to reflect the snow-capped mountains, floats above the Bijaypur River far below.

Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge is open from September to June. The winter (December to February) can be cold but with sunny days. Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) have warm days and mild nights.

Casual cotton clothing is most suitable with comfortable and practical footwear. Dress at the Lodge is casual. A hat, binoculars, sunscreen, swimsuit and sunglasses are useful. A warm jacket or sweater for the autumn and winter evenings and a light raincoat for occasional showers are recommended.

In addition to simply relaxing in the Lodge’s tranquil atmosphere, activities include exploring the neighbouring Gurung, Chhetri and Brahmin villages, each with their distinctive culture, on foot, or on a mountain bike. A variety of walks from two hours to a full day take you through villages long favoured as recruiting grounds for Gurkha soldiers. The area has a rich avian life for keen bird-watchers. All activities are led by Tiger Mountain’s expert guides. Sightseeing, shopping, golf, tennis and other sporting activities in the vicinity can be easily arranged. A range of complementary therapies is available under the concept of “The Essence of Tranquillity.”

Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge welcomes individuals, groups and families as a destination in itself or for a Pokhara stopover before or after a trek. A stay of two or three nights is recommended to benefit from the healthy mountain environs and relaxed pace of life.
