Full accommodation information

Sit back, relax, and enjoy the sea views at Cliff House, a breezy beach hotel in Maine that boasts a perfectly placed alfresco patio and two outdoor swimming pools overlooking the ocean.

Well located and well equipped, Cliff House certainly has a lot to offer from its coastal perch. The look of the hotel inside is that of a sophisticated, elegant beach shack, so the floors are lined with pale wood, private terraces feature white linen deck chairs and touches of pale blue feature throughout, from embroidered cushion covers to clever LED lighting. Yet, this is also a modern luxury New England hotel too, so sparkling bathrooms are clad in glass and chrome, all fixtures, furnishings and artworks are fully contemporary in style while each restaurant space goes on to have its own trendy atmosphere, menu and décor.

Then, in addition to the super good looks of Cliff House, when it comes to onsite facilities this is a top-class Maine hotel that doesn’t leave anything lacking there either. First and foremost are the welcoming communal spaces, lounge areas, bars, restaurants, outdoor patios and gardens – each with its own ambience and design. Two outdoor swimming pools, including one infinity pool with ocean views and one family-friendly option, plus a luxe Jacuzzi by the sun terrace are all also noteworthy, as is the Cliff House spa which offers a long list of relaxation and massage treatments to its guests.

A further indoor swimming pool and relaxation area, 24-hour gym and firepits primed for early evening cocktails all paint a picture of a thoroughly grown-up property, where high standards, gentle service and seasonal fine dining food are the order of the day.

Away from the property itself, Cliff House is situated opposite Cape Neddick Golf Course, though other Maine highlights are within touching distance including all sorts of hiking and biking trails, multiple beaches, the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge and even cross-country skiing routes if visiting New England in winter. All in all, this stylish seafront hotel really does offer the quintessential New England experience, from the seafood served at lunch to the number of nearby attractions, and everything in between.

All rooms at Cliff House are beautifully breezy, adorned in light blue and white hues and at least a partial sea view for everyone. A wall of glass, French windows and a furnished balcony or terrace plus seating areas and king-size beds (one or two) also come as standard, as do extras including LCD TVs, Wi-Fi, designer toiletries and soft bathrobes.

Guestrooms

Guestrooms

There’s a range of guestroom options available at Cliff House, with the main differences between them being the floorplan – ranging from 350 to 475sq ft – and the view. They also come with either partial sea views or fully panoramic ocean vistas that can include the Nubble Lighthouse.
Suites

Suites

The Cliff House suites enjoy superior sea views and for some, a corner position on the property which means more windows and more outdoor space including at least one terrace. They are also notably bigger, with many boasting floorplans of between 1,150 and 1,500sq ft, separate living areas, the option of up to two bedrooms and a dining area in the larger rooms. For families, a cosy suite with bunk beds at Cliff House is a great option as it sleeps up to 6 people in total.
Weare Cottage

Weare Cottage

Weare Cottage at Cliff House is simply stunning. This fully-equipped and elegantly furnished private home comes with a kitchen and dining room, lounge and terraces overlooking the ocean, perfect if visiting Maine on honeymoon or as a family.

Cliff House is a family-friendly hotel in Maine, and although there is no formal kids’ club, lots of nearby activities, Wi-Fi throughout plus a family pool will certainly keep them entertained. There are three pools in total (including one indoor option), a 24-hour gym, fantastic spa and Cape Neddick Golf Course is opposite the hotel, making Cliff House just as appealing for couples visiting the area. In addition to the restaurants you’ll also find outdoor firepits and sofas overlooking the coast, as well as helpful onsite extras such as parking and an ATM.

Nubb’s Lobster Shack

Nubb’s Lobster Shack

As the name suggests, this is the place to come for fresh Maine seafood and local craft beers, with fittingly scenic sea views to match. Nubb’s Lobster Shack is a seasonal restaurant, proudly boasting the best of traditional New England cuisine, all served either out on the terrace or inside its main, laidback dining hall.

The Tiller Restaurant

The Tiller Restaurant

The Tiller Restaurant is an elegant dining space, lined by a wall of windows that look out over the ocean. The focus here is very much on locally sourced produce, seasonal veg and line-caught seafood across fine dining lunch and dinner menus that change with the harvest. The Tiller is a true champion of refined and fresh Maine cuisine; a delight to have onsite while staying at Cliff House.

Tidemark Terrace

Tidemark Terrace

Taster plates and light dishes can be ordered from Tidemark Terrace, though this is mainly a spot to sit beside the fire, enjoy a glass of wine while admiring the surrounding sea views, courtesy of a wall of glass that envelopes the room. Comfy sofas, nautical themed ornaments and fun antique-style lamps then help make this both a cosy and characterful space.

Bald Head Coffee Co.

Bald Head Coffee Co.

An outdoor patio surrounded by flowerbeds and fresh herbs, a coastal breeze and locally brewed coffee, a great way to start the day at Cliff House.

  • Breakfast

There’s a host of outdoor activities and adventure sports to be enjoyed while staying at Cliff House, as well as romantic walks, shopping and golf at Cape Neddick Course, opposite the hotel. Of the many things to do in Maine, popular pastimes include kayaking, hiking and biking during the warmer months and snowshoeing or cross-country skiing if visiting in winter. Cliff House offers a complimentary shuttle to Ogunquit Beach and the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge is nearby too, as are a long list of fantastic restaurants, microbreweries and shopping outlets.
