American Queen (Steamboat)

Your trip includes a pre-night in a hotel on land, your accommodation on board, all meals, wine and beer at dinner, hop-on hop-off excursions, taxes, porterage, transfers and entertainment.

The most popular route for visitors would be The Lower Mississippi with departures from February to June and November to December. The Lower Mississippi is such a popular route because it travels along the all-important Mississippi River to oak tree-lined plantation homes and soaks up the music and scenes that Mark Twain described in his book, Life on the Mississippi. These last from 4 to 8 nights for round trip New Orleans or 7 to 9 nights for New Orleans to Memphis routing or 7 to 8 for a Memphis to New Orleans trip.

Themes for The Lower Mississippi routes include Big Band Swing, Elvis, Southern Culture, Delta Blues and Gardens of the Rivers, available at select dates only. Popular times to travel are also Mardi Gras, New Years Eve, Thanksgiving and Old Fashioned Holidays. Trips to The Upper Mississippi and Ohio and Tennessee Rivers (operate in the summer months) are also available. 

Every morning wake up to breakfast in the dining room or at an alternate spot. From French toast to pastries, oatmeal and omelettes, enjoy a wonderful start to your day. Lunch is served buffet style or in the dining room and features anything from salads to burgers and of course, ice creams from the sundae bar. A southern tea is served in the afternoon and dinner takes place at two settings, 5:15 pm or 7:45 pm, and consists of a five-course meal in the dining room.

Entertainment onboard ranges from the six-piece orchestra to cabaret and music revues in the Grand Saloon and Showroom that is two decks high. There is also a Mark Twain storytelling talk. During shore excursions, the hop on hop off coaches will take you around your port of call and you will receive a map and recommendations of where to jump off, select admissions are also included (others are payable locally).

Pre-night accommodation takes place at hotels such as the Hilton New Orleans Riverside, Hilton Memphis, Sheraton Memphis Downtown and Westin Memphis Beale Street. Excluded are Premium Shore Excursions (highly recommended on the day of embarkation and departure), spa treatments and additional alcohol etc.
